What We Believe

We believe in God, who made the universe including us, who wants us to know him and to be His friends.

He came to earth, 2000 years ago as Jesus Christ, to show us what He is like and to remove the barriers that separate us from Him.

God has given us the Bible to explain what He is like, why we are here, why life is like it is, and where we are going in the future. We encourage you start reading one. If you find something confusing ask us or a Christian you respect to explain it to you.

Q & A

Who is God, anyway?
Why is the Bible a special book?

 Who is God, anyway?

God says He is a spiritual being (John 4:24) who created the universe (Genesis 1:1) and every living thing in it (John 1:3; Acts 17:24-25). God knows everything (1John 3:20), is all powerful (Mt 19:26), is everything good (love 1John 4:7,8; 1Corinthians 13; Mt 19:17) and He is holy (morally perfect and free from all limitations - Leviticus 11:44).

God lives outside of this creation, in Heaven, and He sustains this creation (Colossians 1:17) and works in this creation (John 5:17). He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, here 2000 years ago to live as a perfect example then die for the sins of humankind (Galatians 2:20; Titus 2:14), which has removed the barrier that separated us from God.

Jesus rose from death to be with the Father for a time, then He will return to earth in the future to physically reign as King. God's Holy Spirit currently lives within the body of every living Christian (1 Corinthians 6:19) as a mark of being a child of God, and as a guarantee of eternal life (Ephesians 1:13-14).

There are many versions of the Bible available, some of them are better translations than others from the original Hebrew and Greek texts. Some are paraphrases of the original which are designed to be easy to read in modern languages but which may not be so accurate for detailed study. If you want accurate translations we recommend the following versions: New King James, New International Version (NIV), New American Standard Bible and the International Children's Bible.
